Web apps and mashups
Leveraging the Qlik platform in web solutions helps you extend both your products, but also extend the power of Qlik’s products to meet your use case and need.
Some example use cases suitable for web applications:
- Rendering visualizations from the Qlik Sense client on websites
- Generating AI insights on datasets in customer portals
- Connecting to the Qlik Associative Engine to access data for processes
- Creating custom administration pages to manage reloads, imports, exports, etc
What is a web app?
When the terminology “web apps” is used in the context of Qlik Cloud, it means a type of applications which can be accessed via a web browser (mobile, laptop, or other device), into which you wish to integrate data, control planes, or insights generated through the Qlik platform.
Embedding elements of Qlik Cloud means:
- You buy, rather than build - use the Qlik technology as the base to extend your web app, with your users always receiving the latest updates via Qlik’s SaaS platform.
- You can integrate with either your own solution, or with third party vendors such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, Miro, or any provider who supports embedded content to add additional capabilities and bring data closer to where users work.
- You, as the implementer, can choose to use any technology to build your solution, as long as it works with modern web standards.
Although much of the content focuses on web apps, you can also embed Qlik into traditional applications using the REST APIs or SDKs.
What is a Mashup?
In the Qlik world, a “mashup” is a colloquial term used to describe a web app into which Qlik Sense charts or sheets have been embedded.
Mashups are a subset of web apps, with web apps containing a more broad and deep set of integrations from across the Qlik Cloud platform.
